  ABOUT DANCEONE

Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Los Angeles, DanceOne is the largest holding company of dance brands in the world. Our vision is to bring together leaders in the dance community around our mission of fostering the integrity and education of dance. By sharing resources, DanceOne and its brands deliver an enhanced experience to our customers and expand educational and commercial opportunities for the dance community. Our production team turns vision into reality across dozens of touring shows and live events nationwide — lights, sound, staging, and rigging that bring every performance to life.
DanceOne’s priority is to ensure a safe environment for kids to learn while providing the highest possible safeguarding standards in the industry.

OUR CULTURE COMES FIRST — THE G·I·F·T·S OF DANCE

Everything we do is guided by our core values: Gratitude – we lead with appreciation for each other, our dancers, and our community. Innovation – we embrace change and challenge the status quo. Fun – we bring joy to everything we do. Trust – we collaborate, take risks, and support one another, on and off the dance floor. Safety – we put safety first, always.

  POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Director (PD) ensures that all production elements for every assigned show run smoothly at all times. A PD is typically responsible for two to three touring shows during the season, plus a similar number of summer events at season’s end. Seasonal tours are each led by a Production Manager (PM) who reports directly to the PD, while summer events are overseen by a PD directly or by a PM depending on the scale of the event. Production Directors report to the VP of Production and serve as the calm, capable center of every live-event environment.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all production elements for assigned touring shows and summer events, ensuring flawless execution from load-in to strike.
  • Lead, support, and develop Production Managers as direct reports, stepping in hands-on whenever production demands exceed the PM’s capacity.
  • Coordinate lighting, audio, video, staging, and rigging across multiple concurrent shows.
  • Monitor administrative systems and databases — hours of service, balance of payments, travel plans, and related records — to keep every show on track.
  • Anticipate and solve production challenges on the fly, creating novel solutions to unforeseen problems under tight timelines.
  • Set the pace and standard for crews and technicians, directing teams professionally through long event days.
  • Serve as a positive, steady point of contact for crew, clients, and the general public in all situations.

  REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Interdisciplinary production knowledge – working knowledge of lighting, audio, video, staging, and rigging for live events, with full mastery of at least one discipline and familiarity with the rest.
  • Strong planning & communication – able to organize complex productions and support PMs with any element that becomes overwhelming.
  • Strong administrative skills – comfortable navigating multiple databases covering hours of service, payments, travel, and logistics.

  REQUIRED TRAITS

  • Endurance – while the schedule is often manageable, live-event days and weeks can demand long hours on your feet directing a team. Others take their cues from you, so keeping a strong pace and being willing to get hands-on with heavy tasks is a must.
  • Mental Agility – live environments are inherently chaotic: equipment fails, performers don’t show, clients invent last-minute demands. A great PD rolls with the punches and improvises smart solutions in short order.
  • Professional Demeanor – you’ll interact with dozens of crew, technicians, clients, and the public. Maintaining a calm, positive outward demeanor — even under pressure — is imperative. A good PD is the calm center of the storm at all times.

  QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Several years of hands-on live-event production experience across touring or large-scale events.
  • Demonstrated mastery of at least one core discipline (lighting, audio, video, staging, or rigging).
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience managing production crews or Production Managers strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel for touring shows and summer events, and to work extended hours and weekends during event seasons.
