What We Are Looking For:

The DanceOne team is seeking a Merchandise Planner to oversee sales forecasting, inventory management, and assortment planning to support the success of our expanding merchandise operations. This role is highly analytical, requiring a strategic thinker who can predict demand trends, optimize stock levels, and contribute to purchasing decisions.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced event-driven retail environment, and has a deep understanding of inventory allocation, forecasting, and trend analysis. Experience in live event merchandising, concerts, or touring productions is highly desirable.

In This Role, You Will:

As the Merchandise Planner, you will play a crucial role in analyzing inventory data, forecasting product demand, and supporting purchasing strategies to align with seasonal and market trends. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including accounting, buyers, and senior leadership, to ensure merchandise planning is both data-driven and revenue-optimized.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement sales forecasting models to predict demand based on market trends and historical data.

  • Manage inventory planning and stock levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts, optimizing product availability.

  • Conduct assortment planning by determining appropriate product quantities based on customer demand, seasonal trends, and business objectives.

  • Work closely with accounting and finance teams to develop budgets and ensure purchases align with financial goals.

  • Partner with the Merchandise Director and buyers to support product selection and optimize purchasing decisions.

  • Perform inventory analysis to track merchandise performance, identifying opportunities to improve sell-through rates and maximize revenue.

  • Collaborate with event operations to ensure merchandise availability for major dance events and competitions.

  • Utilize Excel and data analysis tools to generate reports and present insights to stakeholders.

  • Work with warehouse operations to facilitate efficient product distribution and replenishment.

  • Occasionally travel (1-2 times per year) to company warehouses in Ohio for inventory assessments.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.

  • 3-5 years of experience in merchandise planning, inventory management, or retail forecasting.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, advanced formulas, and data analysis).

  • Experience with inventory analysis and allocation strategies.

  • Background in live events, concerts, or touring productions is highly preferred.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with accounting, finance, and buying teams.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing multiple priorities.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and make strategic recommendations.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Availability for occasional travel to warehouse locations (Ohio, 1-2 times per year).
